DACES receive funding from the ESFA to provide courses for Derbyshire residents. As part of our enrolment process you will be required to show evidence of residency to check your eligibility for funding, as well as for ID checks.
Adult learners aged 19+ - If you live in a devolved area you can enrol onto our courses online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due. By continuing you confirm that you are enrolling onto an adult learning course and that you are aged 19 or over on 1 September 2023, or you are enrolling a young person aged 14-18 on 31 August 2023 specifically onto one of our Study Programme courses, and that you agree to the terms and conditions.
Your tutor will introduce you to what the workshop will cover at the beginning of the session. You may be working on different illustrations. You will learn how to create brightly coloured cut-out style collages, step by step, using paper, paint, scissors and glue. You will also have a go at abstract style painting, experiment with acrylics and abstract painting, composition using photo(s) of the artist's work for reference, tips and techniques to create shapes and layouts like Matisse.
Who is this course is for? This workshop is for beginners and those with previous experience. The course will provide an opportunity to develop your painting, collage skills and techniques. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn? This is a classroom-based course. There will be many practical activities with guidance from your tutor. You will be given group tasks and can work on your own projects in a friendly, sociable environment. You will be given support and feedback from your tutor so you can improve.
What will I need? You will need a selection of acrylic paints and brushes and A3 acrylic paper. Please wear old clothes or a shirt or apron as you may get messy. You may wish to have an art folder to store notes and work in progress. You will also need to bring lunch and drinks with you or be prepared to pop out and get some from nearby shops. There is a charge of £3 for materials which should be paid to your tutor on the day. The course will be mostly practical, but you may want to bring something to make notes.
