Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online). Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

Description
You will learn about the basic requirements needed to work in a school setting. This will include: health and safety; equality, diversity and inclusion; communication skills; professional development; and supporting a learning activity.
Who is this course for?
This course is for people who work with children in educational settings in support staff
roles that directly support teaching and learning e.g. teaching assistants or learning
support assistants.This course will give an introduction into the role of support staff
within the school setting. You will need to attend a school placement of 5 hours per week. You should hold a level1 maths and English qualification.
How will I learn?
You will attend a weekly class either online or in centre. You will produce an online portfolio of evidence and your tutor will give you individual support and feedback on all the work you produce. Learners will have to do at least five hours of homework per week; this could be researching or reading relevant articles within childcare, writing up work from your placement and work set from class.
What will I need?
You will need a laptop or other computer with internet access to complete your work for this course, if your class is remote attendance you will need to attend weekly via Teams.

If you are working or unemployed, live in Derbyshire, and earn below £25,000.00 the course may be free.
