DACES

DACES receive funding from the ESFA to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  By registering/enrolling with us you are consenting to sharing your information with us and funding organisations in line with Government guidance for further education providers and you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of enrolment. On an annual basis you will be required to show evidence of residency to check your eligibility for funding, as well as for ID checks. 

Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online).    Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

Description

By the end of the course, learners will be able to understand and use simple BSL phrases, and exchange basic information using BSL.

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning British Sign Language.
No prior knowledge of the language is required to enrol.
BSL competence standards include requirements for learners to have sufficient sight, manual dexterity, facial and body movement to produce and receive BSL.

How will I learn?
There will be interactive-hands-on approach, watching tutor input, individual, pair and group work. A variety of visual IT resources, including internet access and watching online BSL clips.

We aim to match the teaching to a wide range of individual learning styles and to make your learning enjoyable, challenging and rewarding. You will be given homework to complete after each session.
