Description

All of our new Tailored Learning courses are matched to one of seven 'purposes' which have been designed by the Department for Education to recognise the wider benefits of learning.
Do you want to develop your upholstery skills? You will upholster a project of your own choice and learn how to: select the best materials for the project, use appropriate tools, complete a range of skills and techniques in either modern or traditional upholstery, select the best materials for your project. This may include developing skills and knowledge to make improvements to your local environment.

Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are a beginner. Our Tailored Learning courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.

How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course. You will work on your own individual projects with guidance from your tutor. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.

What will I need?
You will need to bring a project to work on e.g. chair, stool, or ottoman. If you are new to upholstery a dining chair or stool are ideal first projects. You will need to supply resources appropriate to your project which may include webbing, hessian, springs, fillers and fabric. Your tutor will advise you on the first session. You may want to bring something to make notes.
