DACES

DACES receive funding from the ESFA to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  By registering/enrolling with us you are consenting to sharing your information with us and funding organisations in line with Government guidance for further education providers and you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of enrolment. On an annual basis you will be required to show evidence of residency to check your eligibility for funding, as well as for ID checks. 

Adult learners aged 19+ If you live in a devolved area you can enrol online, over the phone or in centre, but full cost fees apply and we will contact you about any additional fees due (check your eligibility for funding online).    Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an active an EHC Plan (check your eligibility for funding online).

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has English as a second language. It will help you develop skills in English as a language including reading, writing, and speaking and listening.

How will I learn?
The course will feature a mixture of tutor-led activities, individual work, group work and homework. You will participate in regular reading, writing, speaking & listening activities from Entry Level 1 to Entry Level 3. Prior to the course you will have a confidential interview and assessment to ensure that the course is suitable for you.

This course is based on the 'Skills for Life' ESOL Curriculum. You will develop a learning plan with your tutor and specifically learn reading, writing, speaking & listening. This course offers the chance to gain a recognised qualification in ESOL.

What will I need?
A course fee may apply. Ask in centre for details. Bring along a pen and paper so that you can make your own notes. A bi-lingual dictionary would also be very useful. Handouts may be provided.
