There are some other bits we need to tell you as we get funding from the Government to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  This often helps to keep costs very reasonable.  In return we follow Government guidance:

  • By enrolling you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions and we may share your details with other education providers. This is likely to depend on the type of course chosen.
  • If you have any problems registering or enrolling online please email adult.education@derbyshire.gov.uk or call us on 01629 531241
  • Each year we'll check your proof of residency in Derbyshire and entitlement to possible funding
  • Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course.  There may be other costs for materials etc. 
  • Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.

Please note, we will be unable to take any payments for courses on 25th February 2025, sorry for any inconvenience.

Description

This course will develop learners' understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism - covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

Who is this course for?
For learners who wish to develop an understanding of autism and how to support individuals with autism. You should have a minimum of Level 1 maths and English to enrol.

How will I learn?
You will attend a weekly, tutor led class on Microsoft Teams. You will be expected to complete homework tasks each week and submit your work in your online portfolio.

What will I need?
You will need either a smart phone, tablet, laptop or other computer with internet access to do the course via a link you will be sent.

Are there any other costs?
If you are working, live in Derbyshire, and earn below £25,000.00 the course may be free

Additional Information
You will need access to a laptop or other device to attend the online class and complete your work. For fee payinjg students there is a registration fee of £62.50 on top of tuition to pay.
