Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course. There may be other costs for materials etc.

Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.
Please note, we will be unable to take any payments for courses on 25th February 2025, sorry for any inconvenience.

Description
All of our new Tailored Learning courses are matched to one of seven ‘purposes' which have been designed by the Department for Education to recognise the wider benefits of learning. This course will help you to maintain or improve your mental health and wellbeing. You will learn how to use a sewing machine, different hand sewing techniques and stitches to create your everlasting memories. Reuse and repurpose personal items such as t-shirts, jeans, shirts, dresses, baby clothes, childrens clothes, pillowcases etc. and create a unique and personalised memory cushion, memory quilt or memory bear. Whichever you decide to make could become a keepsake for you or a friend or family to cherish.
Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are a beginner or if you have done sewing classes in the past. Our Tailored Learning courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course. You will work on your own individual projects with guidance from your tutor. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.
What will I need?
For the first session bring along any items of clothing you would like to use and sewing equipment you may have as appropriate for your project. If you are not sure where to start or what project you would like to do then you can discuss this with the tutor. You may want to bring something to make notes.
Are there any other costs?
This course is free and there are no other costs.
