Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course. There may be other costs for materials etc.

Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.

Description
All of our new Tailored Learning courses are matched to one of seven 'purposes' which have been designed by the Department for Education to recognise the wider benefits of learning. This course will help you to become an active member of your local community.
You will be able you to better communicate using a combination of lipreading and basic British Sign Language signs. It is also a very effective technique for anyone who's first language is English. You will learn a variety of techniques, communication strategies, knowledge of equipment, finger spelling and more to enable better communication in one to one and group settings. Your tutor will introduce you to what the course will cover in the first session.
Who is this course for?
This course is for people with hearing loss and their surrounding people, family, friends and carers. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course. We will use group work and discussion about relevant topics. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.
What will I need?
You may want to bring something to make notes.
Are there any other costs?
This course is free and there are no other costs.
