Welcome to a world of learning and courses that could change your life!

Here you can search for something to suit you.  There's lots on offer.  You can use the filter options to narrow things down.  When you've found a course of interest just click on the title to find out more. And why not sign up to our monthly mailing list for our latest news, information and advice?

There are some other bits we need to tell you as we get funding from the Government to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  This often helps to keep costs very reasonable.  In return we follow Government guidance:

  • By enrolling you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions and we may share your details with other education providers. This is likely to depend on the type of course chosen.
  • Each year we'll check your proof of residency in Derbyshire and entitlement to possible funding
  • Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course.  There may be other costs for materials etc.
  • Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.

If you have any problems registering or enrolling online please email adult.education@derbyshire.gov.uk or call us on 01629 531241

Description

All of our new Tailored Learning courses are matched to one of seven 'purposes' which have been designed by the Department for Education to recognise the wider benefits of learning.
This course will help build parenting skills and give you the confidence to support your children's learning.
This course is for any adult who may need to help an ill or injured child and will cover the basics of first aid to help in the case of a medical situation. You will learn how to use a defibrillator and how to resuscitate a child, how to deal with bleeding, burns and scalds and what to do if a child is choking or having a seizure.

Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are a parent of a child that attends Etwall Primary School and may ever need to help an ill or injured child. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.

How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course at Etwall Primary School. There will be practical activities with guidance from your tutor. The course will be a mix of tutor-led activities, individual work and group work. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.

What will I need?
You may need to bend and kneel during the course so you should wear comfortable clothing. You may want to bring something to make notes.

Are there any other costs?
This course is free and there are no other costs.

How do I enrol?
Follow the links on this page to enrol; you will require a PIN number from the school. Alternatively, ask the centre for a paper enrolment form.
