Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course. There may be other costs for materials etc.

Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.

Description
This course will enable you to participate in community life by playing an active role in their local community in work or through volunteering.
Do you want to learn or improve your quilting and patchwork techniques and let your creativity flow! You will learn a variety of techniques including: Patchwork, English and seamed piecing, crazy patchwork, log cabin; Applique, turned edge, raw edge, reverse, decorated; Quilting, traditional patterns, big stitch, tied. You will discover the work of professional quilters and the history of patchwork and quilting. There will be an emphasis on recycling old clothes and fabrics. Sewing encourages mindfulness and reduces stress and anxiety and can also increase positivity and feelings of relaxation.
Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are a beginner or if you have done patchwork and quilting classes in the past. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course. You will work on your own individual projects with guidance from your tutor. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve. You may also make a group project that you can donate to your community.
What will I need?
For the first session bring along a basic sewing kit and 2 fat 1/4s of cotton fabric which is about 18 x 22 ins. You will be provided with a list of the materials and/or equipment you need for the course each session. If you are not sure where to start or what project you would like to do then you can discuss this with the tutor. You may want to bring something to make notes.
Are there any costs?
This is a course that helps your community and yourselves so there are no extra costs unless you want to bring in any fabrics to recycle.
