There are some other bits we need to tell you as we get funding from the Government to provide courses for Derbyshire residents.  This often helps to keep costs very reasonable.  In return we follow Government guidance:

  • By enrolling you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions and we may share your details with other education providers. This is likely to depend on the type of course chosen.
  • Each year we'll check your proof of residency in Derbyshire and entitlement to possible funding
  • Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course.  There may be other costs for materials etc. 
  • Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.

Description

Art journaling is used as a way of developing art skills, confidence and improving well-being. This course aims to build on being part of a stronger community and develop knowledge of the local history of Bolsover district, using this to inspire pieces of artwork. Projects will include: local architecture, Bolsover Castle, the mining industry, local wildlife and walks.
The course will teach you new skills and develop existing ones, giving you opportunities to learn about the area, develop research skills and harness your creativity.

Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you are interested in local history, are creative or would like to be able to express yourself through art. It is also for those who feel they need to build their confidence and improve their social skills by being part of a group, working on individual and group projects.

How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course and is progressive, with a course of six sessions two hourly sessions per half term, continuing throughout the year. Each course will help to develop your skills and build on existing skills and will use a range of art mediums. The tutor will guide you and prompt you with practical activities, explanations, examples and demonstrations. You will work individually or as a group and will be able to continue to work on your art journaling at home. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.

What will I need?
The tutor will supply all resources but you may wish to bring some of your own resources too. For example, scissors, paints, brushes, pens, pencils and different patterned papers.

Are there any other costs?
