This qualification is ideal for learners looking to work with children between birth and 5 years of age, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. Learners need to have some previous experience or qualifications in working with children to undertake this. You should have a minimum of Level 1 English and maths qualifications.

What you will learn
The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:
- develop the fundamental technical skills and underpinning knowledge and understanding required to become competent in the job role; for details of the units included in this qualification
- develop appropriate professional attitudes and behaviours that will support personal success in their job role and the long-term success of their organisation
- develop a range of interpersonal and intrapersonal skills to support progression to, and success in, further study and career advancement
How you will learn
You will attend a weekly, tutor led class on Microsoft Teams.
In addition to your weekly class and placement there will be the minimum of 5 hours of homework.
There are 14 units in the course which cover a range of subjects including understanding how to support children's development, supporting the well-being of babies and young children and healthy lifestyles. All units will be assessed using a range of methods and will include assessment within the workplace.
What you will need
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement. We recommend learners complete the minimum of 220 placement hours over 36 weeks whilst undertaking this qualification. Your placement should be in a setting with babies and young children. You will need access to a laptop or other device and an internet connection to attend the online class and complete your work.
