Welcome to a world of learning and courses that could change your life!

Here you can search for something to suit you.  There's lots on offer.  You can use the filter options to narrow things down.  When you've found a course of interest just click on the title to find out more. And why not sign up to our monthly mailing list for our latest news, information and advice?

There are some other bits we need to tell you as we get funding from the Government to provide courses for East Midlands Combined Authority (EMCCA) residences, this includes Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas.  This often helps to keep costs very reasonable.  In return we follow Government guidance:

  • By enrolling you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions and we may share your details with other education providers. This is likely to depend on the type of course chosen.
  • Each year we'll check your proof of residency in Derbyshire and entitlement to possible funding
  • Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course.  There may be other costs for materials etc.
  • Learners under 19, or up to 24 with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) should chat to us or take a look here to check elibility for funding.

If you have any problems registering or enrolling online please email adult.education@derbyshire.gov.uk or call us on 01629 531241

Description

Few things are outside of our reach if we have the confidence to pursue them. Building your confidence helps you to recognise obstacles that are holding you back and look at finding ways to work with or around them so that you are ready for tackling life's experiences.

Who is this course for?
Anyone that is struggling to recognise and demonstrate their self confidence either at home, in their professional or social setting and is ready for things to change.

How will I learn?
You will learn informally in a virtual classroom. This course will be delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams so you will be part of a live class, with a tutor, but will be supported to progress at your own pace.

There are no exams or formal assessments.

What will I need?
You will need access to Microsoft Teams so that you can enter the virtual classroom. You will receive an email with instructions on how to do this prior to the start of the course. You may want to make notes so have a notebook and pen ready.

The course will cover:
• Definitions of confidence
• How changes in our circumstances affect our confidence, our ability to move forwards and how to overcome
• Building self-awareness and self-trust
• How to identify your strengths
• Building resourcefulness
• How to set realistic goals that are supported by effective action plans

You will be able to talk to your tutor about further courses that may be suitable for you including Careers Workshops, Be More Assertive, Volunteer Passport, Exploring Counselling Skills, Working in Customer Service and more.
