There are some other bits we need to tell you as we get funding from the Government to provide courses for East Midlands Combined Authority (EMCCA) residences, this includes Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas. This often helps to keep costs very reasonable. In return we follow Government guidance:

-
Each year we'll check your proof of residency in Derbyshire and entitlement to possible funding
-
Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course. There may be other costs for materials etc.
-

Description
Junk Journalling is based on creating a journal reusing materials and a variety of papers. In this taster session you will learn about the benefits of journalling and will explore ideas for developing a junk journal, creating an ideas board. You will get to see examples of other journals.
You will also be able to develop your skills and harness your creativity while improving your mental health and wellbeing. This taster session will give you the opportunity to harness your creativity in a safe and relaxing environment.
Who is this course for?
This taster session is for you if you are interested in journalling, are creative and would like to explore ideas for making your own journal. It is also for those who would like to improve their well-being by learning mindfulness through creative expression. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based session and will hopefully lead to a six session course over six weeks. The session will introduce you to junk journalling, what it is used for and different themes. The tutor will guide you and prompt you to create an ideas board, using explanations, examples and demonstrations. You will work individually but as part of a small group and will be able to continue to work on your project at home. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.
What will I need?
The tutor will supply all resources but you may want to bring some of your own too, if you have them, eg. scissors, photographs, magazine images and patterned papers
Are there any other costs?
This session is free and there are no other costs.
Following on from this taster session there will hopefully be a six session course where you will be able to create a junk journal inspired by your ideas board. This will be tutor led. Your tutor will talk with you about your options at the end of the session.
