Art is used as a way of transmitting aspects of culture, such as values, customs, history and identity. It is also used to explore change and shifts in artistic thinking.
In this six week course, comprising six, two hour sessions, you will learn about art from Mexico, Japan, Africa, China and France, and will learn about some of the artists and movements from these countries. You will also develop your own art skills during the course, working on small art projects each session inspired by the different artists and cultures you will learn about. You will get to make choices about your own art and the mediums you wish to use.

This course is for you if you are interested in art, in different cultures, are creative and would like to be able to express yourself through art. It is also for those who feel they need to improve their well-being by learning some mindfulness through art expression. This is also a great place to engage with the community and like-minded people. No prior art skills are needed. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire and are aged 19 and over.
