Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course. There may be other costs for materials etc.

Discover the wellbeing benefits of sewing in this engaging online taster session. Learn how to create a practical and stylish zipped, lined bag, perfect for home storage or, with the addition of a strap, for carrying everyday essentials. Designed for beginners, this friendly course introduces key sewing skills, including measuring, cutting fabric, adding a lining, inserting a zip, and applying professional finishing techniques. As well as developing new creative skills, you'll enjoy the relaxing and rewarding experience of sewing, supporting wellbeing through mindfulness, focus, and a sense of achievement.
Who is this course for?
This course is perfect for adults who are new to sewing or looking to refresh their skills after a break. It also offers a supportive environment that promotes mental health and wellbeing. Our Tailored Learning courses are available to people aged 19 and over who live in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire.
How will I learn?
This is an online course. There will be practical activities with guidance from your tutor. You will be given support and feedback from your tutor so you can improve.
What will I need?
You will need a laptop, tablet or Smartphone and internet access to be able to take this online course. You will be part of a live class, with a tutor, but with everyone doing the lessons from their own home. We will send you an email at least 48 hours before your course is due to start with a link to join the course. You will also need - sewing machine, thread, two half metres of medium weight cotton fabric, scissors, 30 cm zip.
