Adult learners aged over 19 years will generally pay full cost fees unless booking onto a free course. There may be other costs for materials etc.

Description
This friendly course will help you build confidence in the kitchen and learn skills for everyday life. You will learn about kitchen safety, healthy eating, budgeting, shopping, and preparing simple meals. Through practical cooking activities, you will develop the skills and confidence to make healthy food choices and become more independent at home.
Who is this course for?
This course is for adults with learning disabilities who would like to develop their cooking and independent living skills. It is suitable for learners who want to build confidence in the kitchen, learn how to prepare simple meals safely, make healthy food choices, and become more independent in everyday life. Our Tailored Learning courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn?
You will learn in a friendly and supportive environment through practical, hands-on activities. Each session includes demonstrations, group discussions, and cooking tasks where you can practise new skills step by step. You will receive support from your tutor and have opportunities to build your confidence, independence, and cooking skills at your own pace.
What will I need?
You will need to wear suitable clothing and closed-toe shoes for kitchen activities. All ingredients, cooking equipment, and learning materials will be provided. Please bring a container if you would like to take any food home. A positive attitude and willingness to try new skills are all you need.
